Grand Opening and National BMX Day Jam

Well we are officially up and running after our grand opening! We would like to thank our sponsors for the event: Red Bull, Animal, S&M Bikes, Fit Bike Co, Merritt, Theory Bikes, Our BMX, Source BMX, High Class Hash House, and Jamie Dunn W/ State Farm Insurance. Having such great sponsors means a lot to us as we get our start within the BMX and Skate industry. Thank you all who came out to support the event and thank you to all the riders that came out to ride the indoor park and got to celebrate National BMX Day in style.

Just to recap the day, we decorated the indoor park with banners of sponsors. We got the coolers filled with Ice/Drinks and set up the grill for some burgers and some dogs. The Giant Red Bull Arch was the focal point of our event. Having our ribbon cutting take place under the arch with my family there was something I’ll remember forever. We had worked so hard to get to the Grand Opening and it felt amazing to open the shop to the community.

We all celebrated with Highest Bunny Hop, Best 30 Second Run and a Foot Down contest which all had big gift bags containing prizes from our sponsors for the winners. We then had a product toss to all riders and children in attendance. Between the Free Red Bull and the Products toss I’m almost certain everyone went home with a good amount of prizes.

My Dad, Morris Branch has been a huge part of why this whole shop is possible. Having an extensive background in Facilities Maintenance he’s taken the whole project by the horns and has helped create my vision. He’s the reason me and my Brother Angelo ever started riding bikes in the first place. He would show us late 70’s and early 80’s style flat ground BMX tricks and tell us stories of bike parts, hidden dirt jumps and beautiful BMX tracks in Albuquerque. Who would have known he was planting seeds in his two sons that would grow an unconditional love for BMX! His talents don’t stop on a bike or handy man extraordinaire, he’s also an accomplished bass guitar player. My Dad’s band Triple Threat headlined the Grand Opening Jam and played covers of 90’s and 00’s rock and alt rock. They kept the Jam rocking the whole time! Thank you for being so rad, Dad!

As things began to wrap up everyone just had an open session. All the riders that came out were landing tricks and having fun feeling the flow carving around. After we closed up at the shop the whole group of riders mobbed over to the Downtown Santa Fe Skatepark. Some clips got stacked there and everyone enjoyed the perfect evening weather. The group decided to ride out through the plaza and try to get a little street riding session going to end the night. We setteled on the Santa Fe Convention Center to spend the sunset. Definitely a welcome ending to an epic day in Goathead Bike & Skate Shop History.

Here are some images shot by our friends at Spotlight Santa Fe. Huge shout out to them for doing our pre event interview and showing up to celebrate a special day with us!
